• shelving is a design of open shelves where you can store the necessary, often used paper, such as newspapers, magazines, reference books, dictionaries, records. In addition to books, statuettes and souvenirs can be placed on the rack;
• the compartment bookcase is a rack that is closed by sliding doors in front, as in a compartment. It can be either built-in or with a back wall. Such a compartment bookcase closes the entire space from floor to ceiling;
• sliding library cabinets are reminiscent of compartment doors in design. The only difference is that these doors are shelves. Furniture works according to the following principle: the front movable modules can be easily moved, and the rear ones can not. Consequently, the front sections cover the rear, while at the same time they save space and look very original. Sliding doors in a bookcase are very functional. This is a universal choice for both home and office;
• shop windows - more suitable for dishes and any decorative items. Some put on display their rare collection of rare publications to proudly display treasures to guests, friends, acquaintances.

Also, cabinets vary in shape:

• open - do not have doors, only shelves. On the one hand, it’s convenient: you can easily and quickly get a book, you do not need to open the doors, sort through the contents. On the other hand, on open shelves, books are burned out in the sun and covered with dust;
• combined - they have door inserts with different section lines divided into several arbitrary parts, and the dividing strip connects the constituent elements. Materials of manufacture

Manufacturing material is an important factor when choosing a suitable library cabinet. The traditional, classical material from which such furniture is made is wood. It guarantees customers the durability and environmental friendliness of the design. But the price plays a significant role: wooden models (cedar, oak, walnut) are quite expensive, as well as massive.

The internal content of bookcases - shelves - is made of particle board (chipboard). The price depends on the processing, which is used melamine edge, PVC edge, or furniture profile. And pipes are made of metal.

It is not recommended to choose open bookcases, it is better to choose a design with a facade, which can be:

• deaf from chipboard - can be with closed PVC film or aluminum ends and ordinary loops;
• glass - transparent or tinted glass with a thickness of 4 mm is used. It is polished or polished along the contour. A protective film is glued on the inside, thanks to which the glass is protected from damage and will not crumble upon impact;
• mirrored - an excellent solution for a narrow room, creates the effect of spaciousness and lightness. The mirror can have different shades: silver, bronze or gray;
• with frosted glass (satin) - a very popular and common option for finishing the facade. The surface is matted by sandblasting or chemical etching of glass. At the first, sand jets act on the glass, and then a protective varnish layer is applied. Sliding wardrobes with frosted glass look very original and modern;
• with decorated plastic doors - plastic is considered environmentally friendly, flexible, unbreakable, scratch resistant and easy to clean from dirt. A bookcase with a plastic facade is ideal in a nursery. You can choose both a matte translucent and an opaque color from several dozen possible. Plastic doors cost about 15 thousand rubles;
• with compartment doors - can be glass or frame. For the first type, tempered glass is used. To give the glass additional strength and prevent the structure from scattering upon impact, the inside of the glass is covered with a special protective film. It happens frosted or transparent glass. The second type is a frame with the main material (plastic, decorative glass, chipboard) inside. The frame is made of:
  • MDF (in this case, veneer coating or PVC coating is used);
  • aluminum (used as an imitation of precious metal, or decorated with real wood using a film).

Filling

Before ordering a cabinet, you need to carefully consider how and with what to fill it. The interior space of the furniture must be used as practical, efficient, convenient as possible. To do this, use as filling:

• additional shelves - if the cabinet is small, think about additional shelves. They can be double-row or single-row;
• boxes - if there are books that do not fit, put them in a box and put them on the lower shelves. If desired, the boxes can be decorated to give them a more beautiful look.

• Understand exactly what you need - there are many practical solutions for storing books. In order not to make mistakes in the choice, you must surely know the system of publishing savings that is suitable for your home, think over which books you are going to keep for a long time without removing them from the closet, and which you will use constantly. For the first type of books, it is better to choose a closed model so that they do not get dust and sunlight. For publications that should almost always be at hand, open shelves are suitable;
• location - think carefully and decide where your reading room will be located. The place should not be dirty and wet. A dry attic or attic is suitable. Here you can completely immerse yourself in an interesting reading of books, knowing that no one will bother you.

Do not place the bookcase in areas where food is prepared. Basements, wet, uninhabited attics are also not the best choice for a reading room.
